3 weeks/Red Phase done...(hopefully)! :-)

So today was the last day of the first 3 weeks which is known as the "Red Phase". Which means that during chow time he can't choose his meal. There are three different things you can get, either meat, chicken or fish. Well, Nick HATES fish and sure enough there has been a couple times where he has gotten stuck with the first, so on those days he only eats the bread, rice and salad. Also, he can't call anyone at all during this time. Which has been alot harder on me then I thought it would be because Nick and I have always been so connected and not being able to hear his voice has been hard. Although I have been getting aLOT of letters which literally keeps me going day to day. It's totally the typical "I run to the mail box" and then either literally jump for joy or have like a 30 second sad feeling but then remember that tomorrow is a new day. :-) He also is up at like 4:30 a.m. as well as doing Fireguard duty, which is being up and literally "guarding" the base. And if they get in trouble then sometimes they have to do 50-50, which means half the platoon is up for an hour and then the other half is and then back to the other one. Nick has told me that over the course of, for example 3 days, he has only gotten 10 hours of sleep.
The only thing that I have had a hard time with is sleeping. When Nick was here, I slept like a rock. Now I'm a very light sleeper and wake up often. But I have counteracted that with just going to bed a little earlier to try to get as much sleep as possible. Granted, nothing I'm going through is NEARLY as bad as what is going on with Nick and there isn't a minute that goes by that I'm not praying for him. He is such a wonderful, wonderful man and I feel so blessed to be his wife! :-)

So hopefully his platoon made it through the "Red Phase" because apparently if they didn't do good then this phase could be extended longer. Well, if they made it through, that means he gets more "privileges", one of them being able to CCCCAAAALLLL MMMMEEEE!!! :-) I just can't wait to hear his voice again! As well as now they would be able to choose their own meals and what not. So I'll still be praying his platoon is still kicking butt so that they can move through the phases quickly and on time.

I just can't believe how fast this whole process really does seem to be moving. It is totally because the Lord is watching over both Nick and I and guarding and protecting our hearts. It's because of Him that my time always seem to be full and that I haven't had all that much down time to think about things too much! :-)

ONLY 6 MORE WEEKS TILL HIS 36-HOUR LEAVE!!! :-)
Like that's just crazy!!! Like in 3 more weeks it'll only be 3 weeks away!! I'm just so excited!!! :-) I also found out that he will find out where we will be stationed in his 8th week so I'm still not sure if he is going to tell me as soon as he finds out or if he is going to wait till the 36-hour leave. We'll seeeeeeeeeee!! :-)

So stayed tuned for another update, probably at the end of the second set of 3 weeks. :-) And I thank you all again for all the prayers that are coming our way! I still feel the peacefulness and calmness that I had when we first made this decision 4 months ago.

I LOVE YOU NICHOLAS JOHN!!!! :-)

I think the time is going by for Nick to, now that he is getting a steady stream of letters from everyone. I am seeing him grow up right before my eyes, via his letters. Very exciting to see how greatly the Lord is working in Nick's life and how greatly He is providing strength and comfort for you. It is an exciting time for both of you. Love Mom F
