Here we go....

Well he was supposed to be shipping out on Friday but he had informed me on Wednesday night when he talked to me that they were in fact shipping out Thursday (as in moving a mile down the road to the actual base because they've been just inside the gate at the "reception" area just processing).

Then I hadn't heard from him all day Thursday (expected). Actually, I was under the impression it could be up to three weeks before I would hear from him, but once again the Lord has blessed me and he called me Friday evening letting me know they settled and he was good. He actually sounded really happy which in turn made my life light up. His happiness since the day I have met him has always been a top priority for me and it makes me very excited that he finally has found his niche and is enjoying every minute! :-)

So now the first three weeks are known as the "red phase" which means this is the time where the drill sergeants main goal is essentially to break these soon to be soldiers so they can be molded into the gentlemen who will fight for and defend our precious freedom. So as you can imagine I have been praying fervently that the Lord continues to guide him and mold him not only into an United States Soldier but also into the man that He wants him to be. Then from my understanding it goes to the "blue phase" (I think) where they then get a little more freedom. Finally, the "white phase" (again I think that's the order they go in, the blue and white could possibly switch but I'm pretty sure I'm right), where again they get even more freedom. Then at last is onto the AIT (advance independent training) which is then where you transfer to what you went into the military to do. Now because Nick went in for infantry he will just be staying where he is and getting more combat training and what not, whereas for example a friend of ours, Justin, had gone in for aviation so that's then what he left to go get training for that in the last 4 weeks.

I also found out that the first weekend of June is "family weekend" so you bet your bottom I will be flying down to Georgia for the weekend to spend time with him. Then it will only be another 4 weeks till graduation, which at that point will probably feel like old hat! Ha-Ha!!! :-) I can't wait to go down and it feels like I am counting down to my wedding all over again!

The Lord has been so merciful throughout this whole process constantly reminding me that He is in control of all things and will continue to guide and protect us through all things. It has become extremely apparent that without Him, I would be very lost and stumbling but "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

Stay tuned for more updates as I get them from the most wonderful, amazing, handsome husband ever!!! :-)

61 days till "family weekend"!!!!
