Well not really. It has actually only been about 5 days since I dropped Nick off but it already feels like an eternity. It's sad because I knew I'd miss him, I just didn't think it was physically going to feel like my entire heart is bunkering down in Fort Benning, Georgia with him.
But anyway, here is an update on my wonderful husband:
He arrived in Atlanta around 6 p.m. on Monday night but wasn't picked up by the bus until about 8:30ish or so where they then had about an hour half ride to the Army base. Upon arriving they still had to process all the men and then the needed to shower. So they didn't get to bed until about 3:15 a.m. only to then be woken up an hour and 15 minutes later at 4:30 a.m. Needless to say, Nick was very tired on Tuesday.
Then on Tuesday he received his haircut (so very very very handsome). Oh I just love my man!!!!
As of today he has now received all of his shots (including all painful ones) and is fully immune to all sickness and diseases that are out there (or so I hope). He has also been fitted and now wearing his ACU's (Army Combat Uniform) including his boots (yuuuuuumy!). He is now in position of his dog tags which he sent me a picture (again sexy).
The Lord has been so gracious and has allowed me to speak with him not only everyday but multiple times a day. This is so because cell phones have become so popular now that they are allowed to bring them and as the pay phones on base break down they aren't being replaced which allows not only more calls but longer calls when they do call. I guess they are changing how they are doing things and the first week or so when they are just processing them, the men are allowed to keep their cell phones and call home with any downtime. Then when he officially starts boot camp, they will take away the cell phone but still have access to a calling card where they will be allowed to call us. Then once those two weeks are up, they get their cell phone back and from what Nick understood (he isn't sure if he understood it right) as long as they have downtime (and privileges) they will be able to call home quite often.
I do miss him very very very very very very much. Yet, the Lord has not only blessed me with His continual presence in my life during this time, but has also graced me with the most wonderful support group on both sides of my family. I have both my parents (who I have already called at random times of the day and feel just so amazingly loved by them thru this whole process and wouldn't know what to do without them) and parent-in-laws, as well as my brother and sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, then I have my wonderful 18-month old nephew and adorable week old niece. And someone who has been the most amazing help is my best friend Tess (who's husband is in the Coast Guard and is currently deployed oversees) who has a 7-month-old beautiful baby boy. It feels so nice to know that I have someone who just gets me and gets what I am going thru without having to explain.
Overall, I am still very excited about this journey in our life and can't wait till that handsome, lovable, amazing husband of mine once again graces me with his kisses and hugs.
106 DAYS LEFT TILL GRADUATION!!! :-)

Go, Nick! Sounds like he's settling right in, if that's at all possible :). Too bad he doesn't want us to go to his graduation, we were planning on a fun RV trip :) lol
