Phew!!!

Our only worry with purchasing Milo was how our current dog, Cody, and him were going to get along.  We were willing to deal with going through another whole 6 months of puppy training and having to keep and eye on him until then, we were willing to have to deal with having the cage back in the living room, we were willing to back to a feeding schedule that we once had with Cody.  But the thought of the two of them not getting along worried us late into the night.

We brainstormed every night for three weeks on how we were going to make sure Cody didn't get jealous and how we were going to make sure he knew/saw how much we loved him still even though we added another addition to the family.  Our final conclusion is we bring Cody with us to pick him up (showing that he was important enough to come with us).  We would hold Milo when we first introduced him so that Cody saw that Milo was important to us, hoping that would then register in his brain to be nice to him.  We allow him to still sleep in our room at night (including jumping into our bed to lay with us).  We pretty much decided that we were going to try our hardest to not affect anything about his schedule/home that he has accustomed to.

Well to our amazing relief, something worked.  Not only do they get along but they even sleep together at times.  When they play, Cody gets on his back so that he is at Milo's level.  He doesn't ever hurt Milo, or step on him (even when he is running full force).
Cody has even gone as far as in the middle of the night if Milo is whining to go potty, Cody himself will not only start whining but start scratching at the door to wake us up to go let Milo out.

My dad even told us that last weekend when the doggies were hanging out with him, he had both dogs outside and all of a sudden Cody starts barking up a storm, not stopping.  So finally my dad goes outside to see what could possibly be wrong to find Milo all tangled up in the bushes and as soon as my daddy freed up Milo, Cody went to lick Milo and then went back to laying down content as can be.

At this point I think it would be safe to say that Nick and I couldn't be happier with our decision of purchasing Milo.

Thank you Cody!!! Mommy and Daddy love you!!!

Good boy Milo and Cody. Everyone just needed time to establish who was who in the hierarchy of things. Give both the mutts a pat on the head from their grandma. Love, Mom

Those two together make for good comedy. It's fun to see each of their personalities shine through when they interact. Poor Cody always gets the short end of the discipline stick, though. Milo already figured out how to work it!

That first picture is so sweet. :) I'm glad to hear the 2 of them are getting along so well. It took Sasha and Ivan a few scuffles (and a bit of bloodshed) before they adapted to each other. ;)
